AIBUILD Showcases AI-Driven Healthcare Breakthroughs at Heathcote Health

AIBUILD recently showcased our advanced AI-driven healthcare technologies in an exclusive demonstration at Heathcote Health, presented to Professor Minoo Patel, a senior orthopaedic surgeon at Epworth Healthcare and Adjunct Professor at the School of Engineering (College of Science, Engineering, and Health). The demonstration emphasised AIBUILD’s dedication to enhancing patient care through innovative and intelligent solutions.
Collaboration with Heathcote Health
The demonstration began with a guided tour led by Dr Dan Douglass, CEO of Heathcote Health, who generously facilitated the showcase and provided an ideal venue for showcasing our technologies. Dr Douglass’s support and collaboration significantly contributed to a seamless presentation of our systems.
Remote Patient Monitoring System (Fall and UTI etc)
In an interactive demo session, we presented our Remote Patient Monitoring System (Fall and UTI etc) using a real-time dashboard. Participants observed from the main meeting room, while live demonstrations occurred in an adjacent room, showcasing several core functionalities:
- Get-Up Alert: Instant alerts are triggered when a patient attempts to rise from a bed or chair, reducing fall risks through timely staff intervention.
- Fall Detection & Real-time Alerts: Automatic detection of patient falls, generating instant notifications on the dashboard, along with a recorded video clip of the moments preceding the fall, enabling staff to evaluate the situation quickly.
- Virtual Sensor Mat: A flexible feature allowing healthcare staff to define specific zones within a camera feed digitally. If a patient steps onto a defined zone, an immediate alert is sent to the dashboard, offering adaptability unmatched by traditional physical sensor mats.
- Comprehensive Dashboard Functionality: Allows healthcare staff to review historical alerts, manage patient risk levels, and tailor the sensitivity of alerts according to individual patient profiles, enhancing personalised care.

Smart Ventilation & Skylight Integration
Following the Remote Patient Monitoring System, we demonstrated our Smart Ventilation and Skylight Adaptive Control System through an intuitive mobile app integrated with IoT (Internet of Things) devices. Key features included:
- Air Quality Monitoring: Continuous tracking of indoor air conditions such as CO2 levels and particulate matter (e.g., PM2.5), ensuring optimal air quality at all times.
- Automated Ventilation Response: When CO2 exceeds recommended levels, the app automatically activates an air purifier and opens skylights using a motorised pusher to improve ventilation.
- Dynamic Control & Feedback: Once air quality returns to normal, the app autonomously shuts off ventilation devices, continuously updating users via a clear line chart visualisation, providing real-time insights into air quality trends.

Professor Minoo Patel’s Insights
Professor Minoo Patel, a leading orthopaedic surgeon specialising in adult and paediatric upper limb surgery, trauma, and advanced reconstruction techniques, praised AIBUILD’s integrated systems.
With over 20 years of clinical expertise—including roles as past Chair of the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA) Research Foundation and Associate Editor for the Journal of Limb Lengthening and Reconstruction—his endorsement underscores the clinical relevance of AIBUILD’s AI-driven solutions for patient safety and recovery.
Looking Ahead: Strengthening Our Collaborative Innovation
Following the demonstration, all parties reached a clear consensus on deepening collaboration. The next step involves establishing a dedicated joint research lab at Heathcote Health to further refine, test, and scale these advanced healthcare solutions.
AIBUILD remains committed to bridging cutting-edge AI innovations with practical healthcare needs, ultimately transforming patient care standards.
