AIBUILD Approved For Australia’s Economic Accelerator (AEA) Grant
Australia is home to some of the world’s highest rated universities, with 38 educational institutions appearing in the QS 2025 World University Rankings making us one of the top 10 highest ranking countries globally. This allows for a considerable amount of research and development to take place across top universities across a wide variety of fields, proudly funded by the Australian government through grants such as the AEA.
At AIBUILD, we have been proudly representing and collaborating with the University of Melbourne for several years, working alongside the university as a partner in our efforts to improve the efficacy and viability of AI, VR, AR, and MR across various fields. For this, we are proud to announce that, with Melbourne University, AIBUILD has been chosen to receive the AEA grant for 2025. This grant will allow us to continue pushing the boundaries of what is achievable in the AI space whilst providing a framework for the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs.
What is the AEA Grant?
The Australia’s Economic Accelerator (AEA) is a $1.6 billion program developed by the Australian Government as a means of supporting the commercialisation efforts of research and development teams in the university space. This is achieved by funding projects aligned with Australia’s national priorities and those that have high potential in the commercial space, with a goal of bridging the gap between the research and development universities are working on and the market-ready products and services they are looking to develop into.
Victorian Universities Included in This Grant Scheme
Alongside AIBUILD and The University of Melbourne, several universities across Victoria have received financial grant support from the Australia’s Economic Accelerator grant. These include:
- Deakin University
- La Trobe University
- Monash University
- RMIT University
- Swinburne University of Technology
- Victoria University
We are excited to see how this additional support from the Australian government works to support the continued growth of the country’s commercial innovation. With many exciting projects being worked on across Australia’s major educational institutions, providing a means of financial support for these projects in the business space is sure to create a brighter future for innovators and aspiring entrepreneurs across the country.
Different Grants Supporting Different Areas of Innovation
In total, the AEA grant provided to Melbourne University was split into 21 parts, each supporting different projects within the university’s R&D space. Whilst many of the grant IDs listed are connected to medical science, other grants have been issued to transportation, sustainable fuels, agriculture, and more. AIBUILD is proud to be a part of this lofty, wide reaching initiative, and to see our work counted as part of the ongoing efforts of the Australian government to bring these projects to the commercial space.
